Steamboat Ski Resort New Features for the 23/24 Ski Season

We’re looking forward to Steamboat Ski Resort opening day! Aren’t you?!
Here is a list of new features the resort has been working on all summer to make Steamboat the best (in our opinion) ski resort in the US!

1) The Wild Blue Gondola

The upcoming Wild Blue Gondola is set to break records as the fastest and longest gondola with a capacity for 10 passengers in North America. The initial section is anticipated to launch in the winter of 2022/2023, while the completion of the upper section is expected in the following year. This cutting-edge gondola will include a mid-station next to Bashor Bowl, ultimately reaching Sunshine Peak.

Spanning an impressive 3.16 miles, the Wild Blue Gondola will boost the uphill capacity at the base from 6,000 to 10,000 individuals hourly. This remarkable infrastructure will transport skiers from the base to the peak in just 13 minutes.

2) Mahogany Ridge Lift

An expansion of 650 acres of expert and advanced terrain will elevate Steamboat to the position of Colorado’s second-largest ski resort, up from its current ranking as fifth. This new area, featuring challenging, tree-dotted runs, is set to open in the winter of 2023/2024 and will be accessible via a new chairlift.

While Steamboat has garnered acclaim for its immaculate intermediate slopes, this latest development is poised to draw the globe’s top skiers and snowboarders, marking Steamboat as a premier destination for high-level snow sports.

3) Improved Snowmaking

Norway Has Discovered the Future of Snowmaking

To enhance the experience at Greenhorn Ranch and Sunshine Peak, it is essential to maintain a reliable snow cover that allows for an early season opening. Our state-of-the-art automated Low-E snowmaking system is the key to this, guaranteeing that our most frequented slopes are ready for the busy holiday season.

Aficionados of First Tracks will celebrate the improved early season snow conditions, while newcomers to skiing will appreciate the dedicated grooming and snowmaking, tailored specifically to ensure their enjoyment on the slopes.
